Reviewed by: Elizabeth Gredley Written by Mary-Anne Boudreau and illustrated by Chantal Boudreau, this e-book is a children’s story originally published by the Yarmouth SPCA. It tells the story of Amanda who is hoping that Grammy will give her a puppy for Christmas. But on Christmas morning, “None of the packages whined or barked and none of them had air-holes through which a puppy could breath.” Instead, Grammy gives her a big box of dog supplies and a gift certificate for a dog from the local animal shelter. A few days later, they go to the shelter where Amanda chooses her dog, “a scruffy little black and white dog, quietly smiling at Amanda.” Robert, the shelter supervisor, explains to Amanda everything she’ll need to do to look after her new dog.
